18 months... 18 months... wow, that's a really long time. In 18 months, I would have nearly finished med school. A lot of people say that after their audition, they forgot about it - I can't say that was true for me. Sure, I moved on with my life - finished a paper, all my experiments, my thesis, the PhD; vacations; getting ready to re-enter med school; completed 2 rotations; exams; patients; but the possibility of hearing from Jeopardy! was always floating in the back of my mind. You never know, I thought, today might be the day!
In the meantime, I watched the show and kept track of my Coryats. I read up on topics that interested me (Tennessee Williams was fascinating, lists of musicals). But eventually, everything fell by the wayside as I transitioned back into medical school and being in rotations. Graduate school and medical school are like night and day. I love both, otherwise I wouldn't be in the PSTP program, but that is not the same as saying I love everything about both. In fact, the things I like about grad school are the things that med school are not, and vice versa. By the time I was finished with my second rotation, I really needed a break.
