Another lock game for Kevin. Impressive. Deb had a good showing - she had trouble with the buzzer during rehearsal. I really loved her on air demeanor and her stories. Dave was the other prior alternate. The Final Jeopardy was pretty easy - everybody got it. Kevin's now got a shot at the Tournament of Champions. How exciting!
Unfortunately, he had an off game on Wednesday. By the time the 3rd game came around, I was getting used to the whole process. My shaking had stopped, and in general, I no longer felt like I needed to vomit yesterday's breakfast. Amazingly, one of the categories in Double Jeopardy was Oscar Youngest/Oldest. I memorized that list cold and groaned a little that that category didn't come my way. But I would have had to beat George to the buzzer b/c he clearly knew it too. Ran the category in fact. And got a Daily Double! I hope he bet big, I don't remember anymore.
What I do remember is that Kevin was out of the running by the time Final Jeopardy came around; Rights of Man should lead you to Thomas Paine; and that there was some miswagering going on. Jen emerged victorious and there was a new Jeopardy! champion.
We were quickly ushered away again while Jen did her post-win interview. Robert gave us meal tickets for the restaurant on the lot. It was a really nice and sunny cafeteria filled with beautiful people. Even passed by Sarah from the Clue Crew (and yes, the other Clue Crew members were there!) By this time, my appetite had returned and I had a delicious stir fry with brown rice (I love it when brown rice is offered!). I sat with the remaining contestants as we chatted about our lives. Paul was a musicologist who spent time in Alaska, Prague, and other places around the world. Jamie was editor-in-chief and the staff of her own magazine. I already forgot what it was about, but I remember thinking it was pretty cool. Our alternate was a Latin teacher from San Luis Obispo at a very progressive school that focused on classical learning.
Little did I know that while I was enjoying a hot meal and pristine water, my family was left in a lurch and had to hurry to grab lunch from a not-very-close Subway. :(
Anyway, lunch was eventually over, and Robert called the next contestants: Next up... ME. OMG.
